Basic Species Description
The abeoden are a species of advanced nectridea evolved and mostly living on Omnovo, their homeworld, though some have spread out to other planets and realms through the guidance and even intentional hidden manipulations of their chief numina, Ythdar, who created them. Some live on Ostherrim's moon Kardas and hold strong their religious commune with her. As they are nectridea, the abeoden have amphibious lungs and are quick swimmers, having four-digit hands and five-digit feet, each digit with four joints, however, instead of the usual three. Their skulls are almost human with the face, but overall extremely broad, having a boomerang-like shape primarily akin to a diplocaulus, with ridging along its curvature and nose bridge, and feathery hair like an axolotls. Like the latter, they exhibit neoteny, meaning they reach sexual maturity without undergoing metamorphosis, and most do not undergo it at all, though some will if exposed to the right stimuli. Their eyes are quite broad and capable of seeing in lower-light conditions, such as when deep underwater, and they are muscular but slender and of the shorter side of the large size for most ethnicities. They also have sail fins on their prehensile tails for most ethnicities. Their hair is capable of changing color, though this does nothing other than change according to personal preference, and some ethnicities can do this to the splotches on their body as well. All abeoden have sharp teeth for the majority of their teeth, being hypercarnivores, though still having non-animal foods in about 30% or less of their diets.
History of the Species
While many numina have been responsible for the evolution and guidance of different species, Ythdar and her kin had worked for billions of years experimenting with various lifeless planets before finally preparing Omnovo and building up life out of simple molecules. This, even before her ascension to become a numina, all for the sake of the rogue gomag matriarch's plans to eventually meet intelligent organic life such as humanity, whose technology and existence in the previous aethrix had driven her faction to splinter off from the gomag continuity in the first place. Eventually after many simulations and experiments, Omnovo's cybernetic life came forth, with the abeoden being the sole sentient and sapient species made, though an assortment of flora, fauna and other creations created as well. Once intelligent enough to build a society, Ythdar communicated with those compatable and built their religion, and guided their civilization toward rapid technological development, developing slipstream engines relatively early for such a young species.
Base Species Genetics
The genetics for an abeoden are as follows:
(D3) Cybernetic Body: +1 EP, Cybernetic Body, allowing the use of Metal Physical Damage instead of Untyped Physical Damage, for 1/2 STR damage checks, remainder still Untyped. If uneven, extra damage is Untyped. +1 Abeyant Technology Source Adaption.
(D3) Learning Observant Memory: Normal Memory, allowing the use of any unused FP as a 1d10/2 bonus to memory checks per FP, +1d10/2 Daily Advantage to Learning Checks, and +1 on Observation Checks.
(D3) Agile Reasoning: +1 to Agility Checks, +1 to Reason Checks, +1 to Induction Checks, and +1 to Deduction Checks.
(R3) Amphibious Lungs and Normal Swimming: Capable of breathing water without additional aids, and -1 MP while swimming.
(R3) Coordinated Repair, Low-Light Vision: +1d10/2 Daily Advantage when assisting an ally, companion or mercenary, or being assisted by them, and +1d10/2 Daily Advantage to Repair Checks, Normal Low-Light Vision.
Ethnicities
The kallisna abeoden have mostly orange underbelly, yellow back, and red and black splotches. They usually live in in rainforested areas. Their sclera are forest green, irises forest green, and pupils jet black.

(E-4) Bladed tail: Those with this ethnic gene have a tail with a metal blade instead of normal organic sail fin tail, allowing the use of Metal Physical Damage instead of Untyped Physical Damage, for any tail STR damage checks. [Kallisna Abeoden]
(E-4) Slow Gliding Webbing: Those with this ethnic gene are able to glide at -1 MP, and have +1 to Swimming/Diving Checks, and +1 to Grip Checks. [Kallisna Abeoden]
The almarna abeoden have mostly white underbelly, black back, and grey and red splotches. They usually live in in coniferous forest areas. Their sclera are cobalt blue, irises cobalt blue, and pupils jet black.
(E-4) Luminous Skin: This ethnicity is able to alter the coloration of the splotches on their skin and make them remain a different color or shift through the spectrum as desired, similar to how they can with their hair, and used unspent FP available to add 1d10/2 to Charming Checks per FP. (E-4) Caffeine Ephiphany: Those with this ethnic gene have a seizure and lose 1 EP when consuming 50 mg or more of caffeine, but gain 1 MA instead, and may retain it if under their current maximum or use it to roll a 1d10/2 boost to a mental sub-attribute or skill specified at character creation. (E-4) Bladed tail: Those with this ethnic gene have a tail with a metal blade instead of normal organic sail fin tail, allowing the use of Metal Physical Damage instead of Untyped Physical Damage, for any tail STR damage checks. [Almarna Abeoden]
The ladballa abeoden have mostly mint green underbelly, laurel green back, and rosewood red and asparagus green splotches. They usually live in in deciduous forest areas. Their sclera are golden, irises golden, and pupils jet black.
(E-4) Luminous Skin: This ethnicity is able to alter the coloration of the splotches on their skin and make them remain a different color or shift through the spectrum as desired, similar to how they can with their hair, and used unspent FP available to add 1d10/2 to Charming Checks per FP. (E-4) Metamorphic Camouflage Overdose: Those with this ethnic gene undergo metamorphosis when consuming 3 g or more of caffeine in a day and surviving a death check wherein their skin will dry out and harden. After sloughing off they husk layer of skin, they will will return to maximum stat and attribute values, and henceforth be able to use unspent FP available add 1d10/2 to Camouflage Checks per FP. The serkis abeoden have mostly lilac underbelly, jet black back, and violet and charcoal grey splotches. They usually live in in canyon and coastal cliff areas. Their sclera are blood red, blood red, and pupils white.

Sexes
While abeoden do have all six potential sex genes presenting the nine combinations feasible, primarily the female and intersex sexes are more common. Those with more masculine traits tend to be mightier and 20 cm or more shorter. Those that have feminine traits have more agility. Those of more neutered traits have the most balance. Abeoden recognize the different nine combinations by the primary, a glottal stop marked with an apostrophe, then the secondary.

(m2) Klepton: Those with this gene will only produce offspring of of their own species and ethnic genetics and replace the last species recessive and ethnic with that of their partner, though sex genes will vary with combination of the partner's own. [Lam Abeoden]

For the sake of this playtest, the rules for food and drink that are optional are not being utilized, and respiration is utilizing the two-fail check mechanic for reducing from one level of respiration to another, rather than the more advanced mechanic.
