Mireo

Basic Species Description

Mireo may look vertebrate, but are actually arthropods who have mimicked bipedal intelligent species for long enough that some limbs have accentuated length and proportions compared to others. They tend to have two primary legs and arms, but several smaller ones which help with movement or carrying things. Their hair is actually a cluster of antennae, and though most have a somewhat beautiful visage, it is mostly just evolved coloration over their heads and a bit of careful mimicry of movements toward similarity with other species, often for the sake of lulling them into a false sense of security. Whether for the sake of protecting their own individual freedom, that of their civilization, or simply to trick entities of other species, mireo use the truth and prophecy

History of the Species

Mireo are a species native to the planet Frigsolum's moon Glurahn, evolved originally during the moon's equivalent Paleozoic Era, and then further once the planet's orbit drew it further out into its current orbit, where the majority of the year has the planet covered in snow and ice. It was not until after the asmoden arrived and mostly went underground, that the mireo came down to Frigsolum itself.

Mireo have their own languages, as well as most knowing the language of whatever culture they live within or closest to that is not their own. This is not to say that some do not speak others rather than those particular languages, or in addition to it, merely that they are the most likely languages for them to speak. While mireo were considered of mercantile, upper and noble class after their creation, some have fallen to lower classes in other cultures, losing their wealth and status. However, as most typically are extremely vain, jealous and envious, few remain in such a state for long… This is not to say that they do not have cultural or individual morality, just that their cultural morality does not typically care about other species except with regard to how they may affect their own.

For the sake of this playtest, the rules for food and drink that are optional are not being utilized, and respiration is utilizing the two-fail check mechanic for reducing from one level of respiration to another, rather than the more advanced mechanic.
