Quoma-Kin

Basic Species Description

Quoma-Kin are modest labspawn, created through the hybridization of humans and pixies who were then fused with quoma. As the quoma itself is native to Tirae and came to Lenida after the second mage wars and again a large population during each successive mage war and the Great Fey Migration, they have become a nuisance for spellcasters across the planet. Due to their nature as hybrids with quoma originally, quoma-kin share several traits in common with quoma, most worrisome and reason for their creation to be outlawed, the ability to absorb magic and create clones of themselves, though these do not last long, unlike those of the quoma proper.

History of the Species

While attempts to weaponize the quoma existed since their arrival on Lenida, it was not until during the Tesarian War for Independence that stable alterations were able to be made, including giant non-splitting quoma, and later, the quoma-kin themselves. Since then, they have been freed from servitude to the organization that created them, and allowed to mingle freely as citizens in most nations. Despite their initial few numbers, it seems they produced large egg clutches, and risen from being critically threatened of going extinct to being a minority, but of least concern compared to other entities, including the draconis dragons proper.

The genetics for a quoma-kin are as follows:

(D5) Steady Phased Body: Steady Phased Body, being able to maintain any and every phasing ability's concentration for the first attempt to break it without any cost, and +1% Size every 10 months in a high-oxygen environment.

(D4) Winged Gliding and Flight: Ability to glide and fly at -1 MP when gliding or flying.

(D4) Steady Draining Touch: Steady Draining Touch for draining 1 SP when concentrating 1 FP.

(R3) Air-Dancers: +2 on Acrobatic Checks, +2 on Feint Checks, and +1 on Dancing Checks.

The qualde quoma-kin are green and black primarily, with black tendril hair, grey sclera, black compound pupils and amethyst irises.

Generally a quoma-kin utilizes a language of the local human or fey population nearest to them. This is not to say that some do not speak others rather than those particular languages, or in addition to it, merely that they are the most likely languages for them to speak. While quoma-kin are usually considered of middle and upper class, and fairly intellectual. Magic and knowledge are extremely important to quoma-kin culture, and most contracts with their people have precise wording that can be twisted for the acquisition of magical items, or tomes of knowledge.

Sexes

Over all, the different genders of quoma-kin are largely alike, with males being more mighty but being 5 cm taller for their age on average.

For the sake of this playtest, the rules for food and drink that are optional are not being utilized, and respiration is utilizing the two-fail check mechanic for reducing from one level of respiration to another, rather than the more advanced mechanic.
