Rhigaro

Basic Species Description

The rhigaro are a species native to kardas, a windswept moon of the gas giant Ostherrim. The majority are of the smaller end of the large size, though some are smaller or larger. Overall, they appear to be humanoid bats, though their wings also service as their arms, having decent grip for assorted purposes. They do, however, also have plating around their shoulders, back and tail, which allows them to curl into a ball even while hanging upside down, giving some modicum of protection while asleep, or being able to roll slowly while still curled up. This tends to be especially useful on the surface of kardas, where flight is near impossible outside craft for more than short distances given the strength of the winds, but rolling typically puts them below the majority of the gale forces. They primarily build in caverns and canyons with stone architecture carved out of the rock, though some live in cities stretching above the clouds which are tethered to the surface such as The Lagatui Spire, or in cities that fly alongside the oscielis.

History of the Species

Rhigaro evolved in caverns on kardas, most remaining on the moon's surface in assorted tribal cultures, but some have moved into other cultures on the moon, or even left it and had their descendants grow up in other cultures.

Base Species Genetics

The genetics for a rhigaro are as follows:

(D4) Winged flight: Ability to glide and fly at full speed.

(D4) Armored Plates: +1 EP, +1d10/2 EP Recovery Rate Advantage.

(D4) Normal Disease Resistance: The blood of this species stops diseases in themselves or others if not yet active.

(R4) Slow Rolling and Echolocation: Able to roll while curled up at -1 MP, and the 'Echolocation Cone' ability.

(R3) Steady Claws: +1 on Bare-Handed Attacks, +1 on Grip Checks.

Echolocation Cone Rank I:
(Direction, Cone, None)
(Willful, Severance, None)
(Natural, 95% Stability, EP Blowback)
(Breath [Redirection])
(6 FP, 2 Attempts, Accuracy Check)
This ability allows the user to take a strong intake of air and expulsion of it to create a burst of echolocation up to their offensive range, bestowing Dice Pool to Auditory Checks.

Generally rhigaro utilize a language unique to their ethnicity, but many also know the language of the nearest other rhigaro populations, as well that of the nearest market's chief language. This is not to say that some do not speak others rather than those particular languages, or in addition to it, merely that they are the most likely languages for them to speak. While rhigaro are usually considered of low, middle and merchant class, some are of higher classes as they diverge from their tribal ancestry.

Sexes

Over all, the different genders of rhigaro are largely alike, with males being more mighty and being 5 cm taller for their age on average, and female having more knowledge.

(m1) Those with this sex gene have +1 HP, and +2 on Might Checks. [Rhigaro]

(m2) Those with this sex gene have +1 EP, +1 on Grip Checks, and +1 Breath Domain Adaption. [Rhigaro]

(f1) Those with this sex gene have +1 MA, +1 on Charisma Checks, and +1 on Knowledge Checks. [Rhigaro]

(f2) Those with this sex gene have +1 MP, +1 on Taming Checks, and +1 Harvest Domain Adaption. [Rhigaro]

(n1) Those with this sex gene have +1 FP and +2 on Navigation Checks. [Rhigaro]

(n2) Those with this sex gene have +1 SP, +1d10/2 FP Recovery Rate Advantage, and +1d10/2 SP Recovery Rate Advantage. [Rhigaro]

For the sake of this playtest, the rules for food and drink that are optional are not being utilized, and respiration is utilizing the two-fail check mechanic for reducing from one level of respiration to another, rather than the more advanced mechanic.
